__SALUTATION__
I hope everyone has been enjoying this warmer weather as our beautiful district enters this spring season. As always, it is an honor to represent the over 500,000 residents of the 11th District, which encompasses all of Solano County and portions of Contra Costa and Sacramento Counties. Please keep scrolling to view our monthly community newsletter.
Recently, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer which was detected during a regularly scheduled mammogram. I have completed the first phase of my treatment plan and am very optimistic and thankful to have access to quality healthcare. My heart is full of all the love, compassion, and support I have received from everyone. I remain steadfast in my dedication to serving the residents of the 11th Assembly District and encourage everyone to stay up to date on all their cancer screenings. Screenings and early detection save lives.
Housing insecurity continues to be one of the biggest challenges facing California. I am proud to partner with my colleagues as we seek greater accountability with public funds directed toward homeless programs. Greater accountability will allow us to enact policies that increase the efficiency and results we are seeing from government programs.
My team and I had the opportunity to partner with Solano County Public Health, Vibe Solano, Children's Choice Dental Care, the California Office of Traffic Safety, and the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division for a Free Car Seat Check-Up Event in Vallejo.
Along with childcare and health-oriented resources, attendees received free training from certified car seat technicians on proper seat installation and how to safely secure children in car seats. Additionally, technicians checked for old, broken, and recalled safety seats, offering families replacement child safety seats for free.
If you need help properly securing your child in a safety seat, you can contact your local CHP office to speak with a child passenger safety technician or visit their website for assistance.
This year is shaping up to be another productive legislative session. I am pleased to announce that I have had 19 out of 24 bills pass through the policy committee, with two having made it to the Senate already. These bills deal with healthcare, education, the environment, and protecting civil liberties. I vow to continue using my platform to fight for our community and improve Californians' quality of life.
Keep an eye out for future newsletters where we will share additional information regarding upcoming legislation, community events, and highlighting local leaders in the 11th Assembly District.
