I hope you're enjoying the cooler weather as we head into Fall. I'm honored to represent District 11, covering Solano County and parts of Contra Costa and Sacramento Counties.
Here's our monthly newsletter:
Sincerely,
Lori D. Wilson
Assemblywoman, District 11
AD11 at City Hall - Oakley Visit
On September 19, we brought our AD11 at City Hall program to Oakley. It was a chance for constituents to discuss local issues, learn about district resources, and meet with our team. Stay tuned for more visits to other cities.
District Highlights
Last month, Governor Newsom signed Assembly Bill 102, securing crucial funding for various projects. Some highlights include:
- $1.5 million for Vallejo's Marina Seawall Rehabilitation
- $2 million for Oakley's East Cypress Road Widening
- And more for Solano County, Contra Costa Fire Protection District, housing, and farmworker housing.
Other district funding contained within the budget bill includes:
- $3.75 million for the County of Solano for radio interoperability, infrastructure improvement, and early learning resource center
- $2.5 million to the Contra Costa Fire Protection District for the Firefighter Peer Support and Crisis Referral Pilot Programs
- $2.5 million for the California Department of Housing and Community Development for grant funds to cities in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties for creating pre-approved permit-ready accessory dwelling unit plans
- $500 thousand for Hijas del Campo for construction of farmworker housing in east central Contra Costa County
Returning state funding to my district is an honor, especially in a challenging budget year. These infrastructure improvements build upon over $17 million in district requests from last year's budget. Environmental protection, transportation infrastructure, housing, and emergency preparedness are critical needs for our community, which I will continue to address in Sacramento.
Rio Vista & Brannan Island Visit
Last month, my team and I joined the Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce and toured the Downtown Rio Vista and Brannan Island State Recreation areas. While in Rio Vista, I shopped from our vital local small businesses and heard the challenges, stories, and perspectives provided by local business owners in the "Heart of the Delta." Afterward, while touring the Brannan Island State Recreation Area, centered in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, we discussed and learned about the various recreational services and opportunities from Brannan Island's Park Concessionaire.
Back-to-School Event
During their Back-to-School event, I visited First Place for Youth, highlighting their work aiding foster youth's transition to self-sufficiency. Transition program organizations like First Place for Youth are vital for our foster youth in California because they build the skills to help our youth make a successful transition to self-sufficiency and adulthood. Keep up the great work, team!
End of Session 2023
Finally, last month marked the end of 2023's Legislative Session and the end of my treatments for breast cancer. It has been an honor to serve AD 11 this year, and I am proud of all we accomplished. It was also an honor to serve in Assembly Leadership as the Assembly Majority Whip, pass legislation impacting our community, and deliver funding to local projects.
I look forward to continued advocacy for our district and all we will accomplish together.
