Assemblymember Frazier’s Statement on Governor’s Transportation Package in 2016 Budget

Thursday, January 7, 2016

SACRAMENTO Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D – Oakley) released the following statement following Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.’s budget proposal:

“I applaud Governor Brown for consistently being a steward of the state and presenting another responsible, balanced budget. I am thankful for the Governor’s continued acknowledgment of California’s need to find adequate transportation infrastructure funding.

“Last June, Governor Brown identified a $6 billion need for basic maintenance and repair of our state’s roads and bridges. As the Governor stated during his budget press conference, ‘It’s always a temptation to let your roof deteriorate…but you got to fix the basics.’ My bill, AB 1591, answers his call by creating a long-term, sustainable funding solution focused on relieving congestion, maintaining highways, and improving trade corridors.

“I look forward to working with the Governor and my colleagues this year to find a comprehensive solution that makes the full investment now instead of costing us exponentially more in the long-run.”
