Assemblymember Frazier Named Legislator of the Year by the Southern California Contractors Association
Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) has been named the 2014 Legislator of the Year by the Southern California Contractors Association.
In a letter announcing the award, the 40-year association of civil engineering contractors cited the Assemblyman’s commitment to the industry through his chairmanship of the Accountability and Administrative Review Committee, as well as his authorship and support of Assembly Bill 1741. The bill, which ultimately died in committee, would have clarified that the Department of Industrial Relations has the authority to accept a bond as an acceptable means of collateral for hearings regarding the payment of prevailing wages. It was universally supported by the construction industry.
“As a contractor myself, I appreciate being honored by my peers,” said Frazier. “I look forward to working with them in the future to craft legislation that removes industry roadblocks and encourages successful business practices.”
Assemblymember Frazier will receive the award at the 2014 SCCA President’s Gala on November 8th in Riverside.
