Assemblymember Frazier Statement on Final Budget Agreement

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Sacramento, CA Today, Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D – Oakley) made the following statement regarding the Legislature’s approval of the 2016-17 Budget:

“I commend the Legislature and the Governor for working together to pass another balanced budget that reinforces the importance of fiscal responsibility. At the same time, I remain committed to investing in California’s transportation infrastructure needs.

“As Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee, I must point out the glaring lack of funding for California’s roads, bridges, and highways. With a crumbling transportation system, it becomes more apparent each day that there is a dire need for a long-term fix. Without addressing a solution in the budget, the only viable option is to tackle transportation funding in special session.

“I will be working with my colleagues and industry experts to ensure that a fully funded, sustainable plan is in place before the end of the year. It’s time to get California’s residents moving again and put our state back in business.”

Assemblymember Frazier represents the 11th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Antioch, Bethel Island, Birds Landing, Brentwood, Byron, Collinsville, Discovery Bay, Fairfield, Isleton, Knightsen, Locke, Oakley, Pittsburg (partial), Rio Vista, Suisun City, Travis AFB, Vacaville and Walnut Grove.
