SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Discovery Bay) issued the following statement today following the tragic shooting in Thousand Oaks in which 12 people were killed, including a law enforcement officer.

“We are all grieving today after this senseless tragedy. Our hearts go out the families of the victims.

“Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Helus will always be remembered as a hero. He sacrificed his life to save others. His intervention prevented the shooter from taking more lives. His tragic death reminds us of the danger law enforcement officers face every day on the job to protect and serve us.”


Assemblymember Frazier represents the 11th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Antioch, Bethel Island, Birds Landing, Brentwood, Byron, Collinsville, Discovery Bay, Fairfield, Isleton, Knightsen, Locke, Oakley, Pittsburg (partial), Rio Vista, Suisun City, Travis AFB, Vacaville and Walnut Grove.
