Vacaville, CA - Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Fairfield) has named Michelle Strand as Woman of the Year. Michelle is a small business owner, volunteer, community leader, and a mother.

Being a lifelong resident of Solano County, in 2008, Michelle founded Interstate 80 Forklift, Inc., which services the needs of general contractors, subcontractors, and government agencies in Northern and Central California with rental repair. Interstate 80 Forklift, Inc. also sells off heavy construction equipment and provides equipment transportation.

While Michelle puts in long hours as a business owner, she also dedicates her time and energy to volunteering and supporting local fundraising events. As she puts it, “I’ve never met a fundraiser I didn’t like”.

Michelle and her company sponsor and support a variety of local organizations including: the Vacaville Performing Arts, the Solano Land Trust, Solano Foster Care (Court Appointed Special Advocate), Opportunity House for the reduction of homelessness, and Loop the Lagoon- a fun fundraising event for the Vacaville Public Education Foundation.

Michelle’s community involvement and great joy for supporting charities, organizations, and local events are personal commitments that she makes with a thankful, grateful heart and without hesitation.

“Between running her company, providing scholarships to organizations in and around Solano County, and volunteering for a variety of causes in the county, Michelle is a shining example of the power of helping others. She believes when one supports local nonprofits and businesses, you are supporting and strengthening our community.” said Frazier “I couldn’t agree more with Michelle Strand’s philosophy and her commitment to local support, and that is why I am proud to name her as the 11th District Woman of the Year.”
