Assemblymember Frazier Secures $2M Budget Allocation for First Five Solano

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Fairfield) is pleased to announce that the State Budget approved by the Legislature and sent to the Governor contains $2 million to First 5 Solano to support their programs serving the neediest families and children across a wide swath of the North Bay.

The First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission was established by an ordinance passed by the Solano County Board of Supervisors in 1999. Their vision is for all Solano County children to feel loved, healthy, confident, eager to learn, and nurtured by their families, caregivers, and communities. Their mission, to foster and sustain effective programs and partnerships with the community to promote, support and improve the lives of young children, their families and their communities. First 5 Solano is an integral part of the safety net for children's and family programs in Solano County.

“We are so appreciative of the efforts of Assemblymember Frazier in securing the resources to establish a First 5 Center in Fairfield. This neighborhood-based hub will ensure more young children in Solano County have the opportunity for the best start in school and in life,” said Jennifer Barton, who serves as Chair of the First 5 Solano Commission.

“First 5 Solano is an integral part of the safety net for children’s and family programs within Solano County. All First 5 Solano programs improve the lives of children prenatal to five years of age and their families, said Frazier. “This critical support for First 5 Solano will support programs targeted at the areas of highest priority need and will ensure that these critical community investments can continue to meet the needs of children and families in life-changing, cost-effective, and sustainable ways.”

“Children are our most important asset. The First 5 Center is the perfect place to surround families with all the resources they need to help their young children grow and thrive,” said Erin Hannigan, who serves as a First 5 Solano Commissioner and a member of Solano County Board of Supervisors.
