Dear Friends,
Happy June AD11! I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the beginning of our sunny summer weather. May was a busy time for the Legislature, and I'm excited to give you all exciting updates on the legislation passed in the Assembly. First, we will reach the Senate, next to the Governor's desk!
I want to acknowledge, too, that June is such a special time for us to come together as a community. In unity, we can honor not only our fathers and paternal figures in our lives but also our LGBTQIA+ community by celebrating Pride Month and our Black Californians by coming together in solidarity to memorialize Juneteenth. This month is truly a time for solidarity and commemoration.
Let's make this June memorable!
As always, thank you for your ongoing trust and support.
In this update, you'll find the following:
Whether it's my District Office or my Capitol Office, my door is always open for the people of the 11th Assembly District.
Warm regards,
Lori D. Wilson
Assemblywoman, District 11

PRIDE MONTH
As the mother of a transgender child, I deeply understand the ongoing need to protect and affirm our LGBTQIA+ Californians. Pride Month is a time for celebration and a vital reminder of the work required to ensure safety, respect, and equality for the LGBTQIA+ community. This commitment was beautifully embodied at the first-ever Suisun Pride, which I enjoyed attending. The joy and unity experienced there inspire me to look forward to celebrating with our district and across California throughout this month. Let's use this time to strengthen our resolve and actions toward making every corner of our state a welcoming place for all LGBTQIA+ individuals.
JUNE IS MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, an essential time to acknowledge and address the unique mental health challenges men face. This month, we aim to break down the barriers of stigma and silence that often prevent men from seeking help. Men must recognize the importance of their mental well-being and understand that it's okay not to be okay. If you or a loved one are struggling, remember that help is just a phone call away. Contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline to connect with trained counselors who can provide support and guidance anytime, day or night. Let's take this opportunity to support the men in our lives by encouraging open conversations about mental health and promoting a healthier, more open-minded community. AROUND THE CAPITOL
AB 2229
It was a pleasure to have Sriya, our AB2229 Know Your Period Act sponsor, at the Capitol to discuss this important bill. Stay tuned for the podcast episode! Additionally, earlier this month, I had the privilege of speaking at the Junior Leagues of California State Public Affairs Committee on #AB2229. I am proud to continue advocating for this legislation, shaped by community input through our "There Oughta Be a Law" contest, to ensure all students receive comprehensive menstrual health education.

ACA 8 Advocacy
At the Quest for Democracy event, I discussed the crucial importance of ACA 8-The End Slavery in California Act. As the Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus, I am deeply committed to ensuring this bill's passage to eradicate all forms of slavery in our state. The time to act is now! I urge you to contact your State Senators and request their support for ACA 8. Let's look forward to getting this bill across the finish line this year.
AB 46 Press Conference
I recently had the honor of speaking in support of Assemblymember James Ramos's bill, AB 46.
It was a privilege to advocate for AB 46's passage with our military retirees and their survivors. AB 46 aims to grant them a state tax exemption-a benefit that California uniquely lacks. By passing this bill, we move closer to making our state a more welcoming place for those who have sacrificed so much to keep our nation free and strong. This exemption will enable them to continue contributing to California in myriad ways after their military service.
AROUND CALIFORNIA
Celebrating Asian Heritage Month
I was delighted to join in celebrating Asian Heritage Month with the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs (APAPA) and Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry from District 4. It was an honor to present an award to Chef Martin Yan and to celebrate our outstanding APAPA interns. I'm especially proud of Isabella, our office's APAPA intern. I am deeply proud of the rich diversity and significant contributions of our AANHPI community!
California African American Chamber of Commerce
I received the Gwen Moore Legislative Impact Award from the California African American Chamber of Commerce last night! This award celebrates our joint efforts to uplift the Black business community a cause dear to me. We also paid tribute to Gwen Moore's enduring legacy in public service. Thank you to the CAAC for all that you continue to do!
IN THE DISTRICT
Paying Tribute to our Fallen Heroes Memorial Day
I had the distinct honor of speaking and laying a wreath at Mare Island Cemetery this past Memorial Day, paying tribute to our Fallen Heroes. As a partner to a retired USAF veteran and mother of a USMC veteran, I'm deeply grateful for their sacrifices.
Commemorating veterans, including Benicia's Mr. Harold Bray, a survivor of the USS Indianapolis Disaster
It was wonderful connecting with everyone in Benicia earlier this month! We paid tribute to all veterans, with a special focus on Benicia's own Mr. Harold Bray, the last survivor of the USS Indianapolis disaster. At 96 years old, his service and commitment inspire us all. It was truly a day filled with significance.
Dixon May Fair Parade
I enjoyed attending and connecting with everyone at the Dixon May Fair Parade! It was wonderful catching up with friends and colleagues. A special thank you to Lee A. Archer Jr. Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen from Travis AFB for their presence. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and, like me, is already looking forward to next year.
