AB 345 – Habitat restoration: flood control: advance payments
Provides the Department of Water Resources (DWR) with discretionary authority to utilize an advanced payment option when funding local flood protection and multi-benefit habitat restoration projects.
AB 536 – Bay Area Air Quality Management Advisory Council: compensation
Repeals the ban on compensation for members of the Advisory Council of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) in the discharge of their duties. The bill authorizes each member of the council to receive compensation, to be determined by the BAAQMD Board for either attending a meeting of the council or attending a meeting, upon authorization of the BAAQMD Board, as a representative of the council.
AB 592 – Vehicles: commercial nonfranchise solid waste haulers: pilot program
This bill, until January 1, 2028, would authorize the Counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano to create a 3-year pilot program to regulate the transport of solid waste by commercial nonfranchise solid waste haulers, as defined, on public roads in unincorporated areas of the county, as provided. This bill would make legislative findings and declarations as to the necessity of a special statute for the Counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano.
AB 760 – Public postsecondary education: affirmed name and gender identification
Requires the Trustees of the California State University (CSU), and request the Regents of the University of California (UC), to implement a process by which students, staff, and faculty can declare an affirmed name, gender, or both name and gender identification to be used in records where legal names are not required by law.
AB 779 – Groundwater: adjudication
Adds a requirement that a court take into account the needs of disadvantaged communities and small farmers when entering a judgment. The bill also requires that groundwater pumpers in a basin subject to an adjudication continue to comply with any applicable groundwater sustainability plan.
AB 910 – County officers: auditors: qualifications.
Revises the qualifications for the office of county auditor, and makes changes to elections law regarding documents required to be considered a legally qualified candidate for specified offices, and documents required for a candidate’s name to be printed on the ballot for a direct primary.
