SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson (D-Suisun City) proudly announces the passage of Assembly Bill 912 out of the Assembly Committee on Public Employment and Retirement – a key step in opening new doors to opportunity for Californians with disabilities and service-disabled veterans.
AB 912 establishes a civil service apprenticeship program designed to help individuals with disabilities enter state service through entry-level environmental services positions. The program aims to remove long-standing employment barriers and provide additional meaningful, supported pathways into public sector careers.
"In Assembly District 11, we understand the real barriers that individuals with disabilities face in accessing stable, meaningful employment," said Assemblymember Lori D. Wilson. "AB 912 is about creating real pathways — not just in my district, but across California, to ensure individuals have the opportunity to build lasting careers in public service. This bill reflects California’s responsibility to lead with purpose, equity, and action to make our workforce truly inclusive."
The effort reflects California’s continued leadership in creating innovative workforce development strategies that promote equity and inclusion. Assemblymember Wilson looks forward to building this momentum by working hand in hand with community advocates, labor partners, and state leaders to ensure the bill delivers real opportunity and lasting impact across California.
