Sacramento, CA: Today, Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) honored Lillian “Lill” Pierce on the Assembly Floor as his 2014 Woman of the Year for the 11th Assembly District.

“Receiving this award would not have been possible without the wonderful people I work with and the community who has offered their unwavering support,” said Pierce. “I feel humbled at the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of my mother, who also received this honor in 2001.”

Frazier Wants Safeguards for Veterans at At-Profit Schools

FAIRFIELD — For-profit colleges would have to meet a minimum graduation rate of 30 percent and default rate of less than 15.5 percent before they can admit veteran students who receive GI Bill financial aid if legislation introduced by Assemblyman Jim Frazier passes.

Frazier, D-Oakley, said his measure is to help ensure veteran student success at for-profit colleges.

The bill establishes the same graduation rate and default rate that the Legislature recently enacted as a requirement for these for-profit colleges to receive Cal Grant dollars, the assemblyman said.

Assemblyman Jim Frazier Receives Legislator of the Year Award from Vietnam Veterans of America

The California State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America recently named Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) 2013 Legislator of the Year.

"I am deeply honored to be selected by the California State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America as their Legislator of the Year," said Frazier. "Veterans are profound heroes who left their homes and families to answer the call of duty. Although their service is a debt that can never be repaid, I will continue my efforts to give back and improve the lives of all of our veterans who have served our country so unselfishly."

Assemblymember Frazier Introduces Legislation To Establish “Veteran” Designation on Driver’s Licenses

Sacramento, CA - Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) and Assemblymember Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) have introduced Assembly Bill 1637, which will allow California veterans to apply for a driver’s license or identification card that clearly identifies them as a veteran.

"There are a number of federal, state, and local benefits and services available to veterans, including assistance with employment, housing, health and counseling benefits, educational opportunities and many more," said Assemblymember Frazier. "Allowing veterans to apply for a driver’s license with a “Veteran” designation will allow them to quickly and easily identify themselves and access the services and benefits they are entitled to, without having to deal with the impracticality of carrying around official discharge papers."
